Emily Witney was born to practice law. A native of Marion, she comes from a deeply rooted Hoosier lineage of legal and financial professionals. Her great-grandfather founded a prominent law firm in Marion, while her other great-grandfather served as the long-term president of First Farmers National Bank in Converse. With both her grandfather and uncle also practicing as attorneys, dedication to advocacy and community service is truly in her blood.
After venturing east to earn her undergraduate degree from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey in 1999, Emily returned home to Indiana after meeting her husband. She went on to earn her Juris Doctor from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law and was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in 2004.
Emily brings over two decades of diverse, high-level legal experience to Truitt Law Offices. Her career is defined by a meticulous understanding of the law from multiple perspectives. She spent a decade working for the State of Indiana, focusing on complex post-conviction and appellate work, before spending 11 years in Insurance Defense. This experience provided her with invaluable, inside knowledge of how major insurance corporations evaluate, defend, and value claims.
In 2025, Emily joined Truitt Law Offices, bringing her formidable background in insurance defense and appellate law directly to the side of everyday Hoosiers. Today, she channels her unique insights into personal injury law, where she thrives on helping clients navigate the aftermath of serious accidents.
Emily loves personal injury law because it allows her to use her inside knowledge of insurance companies to level the playing field for her clients. She understands the tactics the other side will use and knows exactly how to build a case that wins. “Coming from a family of attorneys, I learned early on that the law is ultimately about helping people through some of life’s most challenging moments. At Truitt Law Offices, I get to do exactly that every day.”
